tags: How To, Activation Host

So… you’ve set up your first space profile on Brandcrush, and have just received your first booking request. Now, you have 48hrs to decide whether to accept or decline the Brand's activation request.

As exciting as it is to know that a brand has chosen you for activation (and as appealing as that extra income might be!) it pays to think carefully before accepting an activation request. As an Activation Host, it is entirely up to you whether or not you accept a Brand's request to activate, and it's not a decision to be taken lightly. But how do you decide?

Look for a win-win-win

The best Brandcrush campaigns are ones that equally benefit all participants: that's you (the Activation Host), the Brand, and your customers. If the Brand is not a good fit for your customer base, you will run a less successful activation; the feedback from customers will not be as positive, the Brand will not see much return on their investment, and your customers might end up feeling annoyed about the unsolicited marketing activity. This will lead to a less favourable review of your space from the Brand, and potentially lower your booking rate and potential for future income.

However, when there is a great alignment between you and the Brand, your customers will love being introduced to them. And this means a more successful activation for everyone, and more repeat bookings for you!

Consider the Activation Request

When a Brand requests to activate within your space they should include plenty of information to make it easy for you to assess whether it's a good fit. The request should explain clearly what the product or messaging materials are, how many items they are wanting to distribute, as well as give you a rundown on the Brand itself. At the bottom of the request you will find the option to approve or decline the booking.

Things to think about

Every business is unique, and only you will know what's most important to consider when deciding if a Brand is right for you.

Somethings that it might pay to think about are:

  • Relevance - how relevant is this product to your customer base? Is this likely be something that easily fits with their lifestyle? Does it naturally compliment the business or service that you provide?
  • Brand values - what values are most important to your business, and how does this Brand align?
  • Customer type - is the target market for this Brand or product likely to be the same as your customer base?
  • Price point - does the price point of the product being sampled or demonstrated align with your customers? Is this something they would realistically purchase?

What happens next?

The Brand will be notified of your response immediately. If you accepted the request, you will be prompted onto the next step in the process: arranging to accept the delivery of products or marketing materials from the Brand.
